ISCSE 2015
International Student Conference on Sustainable Energy
Earth. It is a simple word, it is not an outlandish name to be borne not even calculus formula to be well-written. A generation ago, the astronomers stood here and lunched hundreds of millions of us on a great adventure, the exploration of the universe, revealed by science. From the dawn of time to the distant future.
We are in the exploring of galaxies, suns and worlds. Surf the gravity waves of space-time, encounter that our worlds live in fire and ice, explore the planets and stars never die, discover to the creature of an atom scale.
Earth is an invisible point of this scale, the dot that serves life for many of creatures, the dot that a “truly” life exists. Earth is always about us. It is a saga of how wandering bands of hunters and gatherers found its way to meet the stars, one adventure with many heroes. To keep this journey going on, we all will need an imagination, the one which will express the idea of humanism, because the reality we are the nature is far more wondrous than anything we could imagine.
This adventure needs energy, the breath that has been keeping life generations by generations then and now. Earth since the beginning has breathed for 250 millions of years by now and the life inside keep consuming energy no matter in shape. This long journey has been waiting for the next thoughts, some who will bring beam of light into the darkest night.
Reality tells us we are living the Earth, the only home we have ever known harmless to rest. Hundreds of years ago once Earth and its people had the biggest feast ever, maybe, when a young man Thomas Edison famed of his exploration imagination to an invention of a lamp. As he said, “Many of life’s failure are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up” hint us that we will never stop on searching a better life every day. He added, “I have not fail. I have just found 10.000 ways that won’t work” when he proved the world he needed a bit more till all of us have a sight in his ways.
We are called, again, to keep this life going on, to ask our own of kinds of invention, some great new scheme, to bring energy we have to a state-of-the-art, sustainable energy.
“Sustainable energy is the form of energy obtained from non-exhaustible resources, such that the provision of this form of energy serves the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.” (Wikipedia)
Wandering the better place is not always as easy as most people think of. Some of them needs far more hard work, endurances to reinforce the fear for year and at the end found themselves at the summit. Isamu Akasaki, Hiroshi Amano, and Shuji Nakamura jointly were awarded The Nobel Prize in Physics “for the invention of efficient blue light-emitting diode which has enabled bright and energy-saving white light sources” – (nobelprize.org).Since the beginning of their invention back then to 1994 they have exerting high-efficiency low-power consumption in using light.
Back again to our fellow, Earth, a home for 7,3 billion people (www.worldometers.info) needs you and me to help it resolve the issues of energy.
Energy is ranch for hundreds of studying subject, the old folks on energy affixed that speaking about energy is always technical. Literally it was a big mistake. At this moment in time we all know that energy relates our self to many of life feature.
ISCSE, stands for International Student Conference on Sustainable Energy, 2015 is brought to you as a part of that calling. Hand in hand we make the circle to protect our future from catastrophe --atmosphere damaging, energy consumption borderless, subsoils unstoppable exploitation-- that may address our offspring.
Clock is now tinkling time streaking as an arrow bustles its dart board. The earth calls us, students of every nation and place, to contribute this innovation.
